Michele's mom made me a delicious dinner for my birthday last night. While we were eating a severe thunderstorm came through producing incredible winds, hail, pour rain and brought down a tree across the street. Living only two miles away, we were curious about what was happening at our house. On our way home we saw numerous trees down and debris everywhere. When we got home we discovered the only damage we had sustained was a chewed-up doorway, compliments of Gizmo. When thunderstorms or fireworks are nearby, Gizmo freaks out. She got so scared and desperate to get into our bedroom, she tried to chew her way in. The trim around the door about a foot up from the floor has been reduced to splinters and will have to be replaced - add another project to the 'to-do' list.
We also arrived home to no power. We lit candles and put Peanut to bed. Michele and I stayed up, ate popcorn in bed and talked for a couple of hours. It was nice to just sit in the dark and talk. With our lives filled with so much responsibility and activities, it sometimes takes an act of God to calm things down and get in some quality time. Of course, as soon as the power came back the tv was promptly turned on and the talking stopped immediately.
Michele got word a couple of weeks ago that the crib Addison sleeps in has been recalled. There are 45 reports of the slats breaking and kids being trapped. None of them were injured but the cribs have been recalled. We didn't want to wait the 3-4 weeks to get a voucher from the manufacturer to get a new crib so we went out and bought one this past weekend. We will get reimbursed when the voucher comes in; it's just a pain to dismantle a crib, pick out a new one, get it home and assemble it - here is a picture of Addison & Monkey's new crib coming home -
Another one of the few activities we can do with Peanut is bowling. The bowling alley is right next to where we bought the crib so we stopped in for a few games. Addison sits in her stroller and watches for a little while, then she starts to get fussy and we take turns holding her while the other bowls their turn.

Every once in a while we like to have breakfast/brunch on the weekends at IHOP. Their Butter Pecan syrup is the nectar of the gods. We needed to go to Home Depot right next door so we stopped in for a fancy meal.
Peanut likes eggs.
Oh, I almost forgot - Monkey will be here tomorrow. Michele went to her weekly appointment with the midwife and after being checked out and hooked up to a fetal monitor, the decision was reached that Monkey is getting pretty big. Michele is having regular contractions and is making progress but there is the possibility that he may decide to stay in there for a while longer and who knows how much bigger he will be then. So, tomorrow morning we'll go to the hospital and Michele will be induced. We know he's paid up until Friday but the landlord is getting tired of all the racket.
Wednesday is the day Peanut will no longer be an only child - be sure to come back and see Monkey!
