Propulsion, Party & Patriots!

I thought once the holidays were over, things would slow down. It seems like there is more going on than ever before - some because of work, the rest is because of Addison. Work has been very busy lately. I've been working 6 days/50 hours+ a week and watching Addison during the day. She's growing so fast and learning new things almost daily. She requires so much more attention now because she's becoming very vocal and mobile. She hasn't said any words yet but she can make purposeful sounds in an effort to communicate and is aware of who and what is around her. The dogs bark at all kinds of things but when they bark because Michele is home from work, she knows the difference. She gets very excited , her eyes get big and looks toward the nearest doorway - waiting for her to walk through.

She's not crawling or walking yet but she can roll over, sit up and 'scoot'. About 2 weeks ago, she finally became able to roll from her back to her tummy and does it consistently. She can also get herself from a laying or sitting position - to roll over and sit back up again. She can also pull herself up to standing and has lately been trying to let go once she's standing - it usually ends with her falling on her butt but she really wants to stand and gets right back to it. Last night, Michele put Addison on the floor and she started to 'scoot' herself backwards and slide across the floor. I got my camera to get video of it, she was starting to get upset and wanted to be picked up but we had to get video of her first self-propulsion. She has the moves down, but in the wrong direction.

Here something else that's new, Annabelle has learned how to relieve Peanut of unprotected snacks. She lays under the highchair and when Peanut reaches to the side, Annabelle just sits up and gently takes it out of her hand. As illustrated below:

Step 1: Wait for food to arrive.

Step 2: Slowly approach while baby is distracted.

Step 3: "pay no attention to me, I'm just licking your hand"

We had some snow here this past weekend. There were some flurries last Thursday but we got a little more than an inch of coverage on Saturday. It hasn't snowed here in 3 years, and then it does twice in a week... weird. As soon as the flurries started falling Thursday, Michele took Peanut outside for some pictures. You can't see much of the snow, but here is a flake that landed on her head.

Here is video Michele shot of Peanuts first snowball

What it looked like at my work

On Sunday, Peanut's friend Sloan turned 1 so we took her to her first party. Sloan smashed cake and icing all over her face and made quite a mess while Peanut tried to inspect some kids' head.

Peanut has a third tooth coming in. It's on the bottom next to the other two. While at dinner at Michele's parents Sunday, I was able to get this picture showing the teeth pretty well - she is smiling because of the Patriots win.

Construction on the Fortress of Solitude continues. I've been calling it the Fort of Solitude because an 11' x 13' room doesn't feel big enough to be a fortress. I hope to have the walls and ceiling done this week and be able to move in sometime next week.

I'm on vacation this week. Michele has parent-teacher conferences so I am staying home with Peanut. Michele had Monday (MLK day) off so we stayed home and had a tv & movie watching day. I hope to use any free time I have this week to finish the basement, lay flooring on the attic so we can store all the Halloween & Christmas stuff that formerly resided in the basement. There are a few other projects around the house that need tending to - if time permits.

Baby #2 is doing well. Michele has felt it move a couple of times. The next appointment will be in the middle of February. You probably noticed the counter on the top of the page, it shows what the baby looks like from day to day. The baby has arms, legs, fingers & toes. It will pretty much spend the next 5 months getting bigger.

The poll is still going on (at the bottom of the page) if you haven't voted yet.

One more thing...
How 'bout those PATS!!
